As per mythology, while Sri Rama and Lakshmana were searching for Sita and reached this place, they bathed in the Koneru river and had darshan of Lord Siva who presided on this hillock.

Also, as per the Mahabharata, when the Pandavas went into Vanavasam living in the forests , Arjuna offered Pooja to Sri Malleswara Swamy here.
The Malleswara Swamy temple authority authorities celebrates Sivaratri Festival at on a grand scale at the destination. The Pilgrims generally visit the destination especially on Mondays and Fridays and the tourists flow swells during these days.
During the summer and winter vacations, the tourists flow is high due to holidays to students. The Tourists visit this destination primarily for pilgrimage as well as recreational purpose, as the destination is located on the hillocks as well as in the forest area.

Polathala Akkadevathalu 

Polatala Akka Devathalu is located in Polatala, Pendlimarri  Mandal, Kadapa district .Its famous for Siva Ratri Festival.
People do not have Brood. They will come and pray the Akka Devalthalu here. Also who got suffered from Ghosts they will come so here so that Akka Devalthalu will throw the ghosts. You can get direct buses from kadapa to Polathala.

Social Relevance ::  During the Sivaratri more than 3,00,000 pilgrims visit the temple and keep vigil the whole night at the destination.

How to Reach Polatala ::

The destination is located on the hillocks about 25 km away from Kadapa including forest road of 10 km . The destination is on the top of the hillock in the forest area. The nearest railway station is located at Kadapa.
