Everyone should have proper education. But India is a country with a large population. Formal education in educational institutions cannot be provided to all people. The open university comes into picture in this regard. The aim of the open university is to bring education to the doorsteps of the needy. In our country a large number of young men and women fail to receive proper education.
Some give up their studies in the middle of their career. There are others. who wish to improve their qualifications after they are employed. Housewives often hope for higher education. For a these people the open university is a boon.

A.P Open University. Recently it was renamed as Ambedkar Open University. It has a large number of students enlisted. Anyone above 20 can get admission into the open university. Courses up to the post graduation level are available. To join the open university a candidate has to pass the eligibility test which is held every year. The Open University has study centres all over the state. Here contact classes are conducted There are no colleges affiliated to the Open University. Academic plans are prepared by experienced lecturers. Study material is provided to the students. Study centres are provided with Audio and Visual equipment.
A good number of stuuents are joining the Open University every year. At the national level the Indira Gandhi National Open University is helping the students all over the country. Every citizen can use its services and improve his qualifications.
